Lyle started tattooing professionally in 1949 and admits; "That tattoo machines are his daytime passion." Well known for his innovative tattoo machine designs, historic knowledge and founder of the Tattoo Art Museum. He will be sharing, with professional tattoo artists only, over 60 years of experience in one man's oldest and today's hottest art forms. His better known machines are Star Struck, Frisco Flyer, the 4x4 and the Lyle Tuttle circle frame.
Your tattoo machines should be, but second nature to you and serve you faithfully day in and day out. In this way you can apply 100% of your shop time tattooing. This is such a complete study of all component parts of the tattoo machine and their interaction and relationship. Demonstrations of cutting springs, making contact points, building needle bars with bent eyes, choice of sizes and configuration for different tattooing effects, needle soldering. Tips on how to find the materials that you'll need to build, replace and maintain the equipment. Good tattooing is based on your machines and of course the hands that tuned it.
Cost $150 - approx 2 hours
DESIGN and BUILD your own tattooing machines from start to finish. Cast, fabricated or bent frames, even "frame less" coils. How wire and core size effect the finished machine operation, outliner or shader. Build your own coil winder from parts you could have stolen from your mother. Short cuts in building all the parts needed, the best raw materials and where to find them. Learn the joys of building your own tattoo machines, accessories, power supplies, tubes, needle bars, etc... Everything needed in plying your trade.
